Trinkets

Whether a product of magic or technology, Trinkets are assorted of odds and ends that give adventurers an edge in their perilous quests. These items typically offer a small utilitarian benefit and while they make for poor weapons, they are invaluable tools for overcoming the many obstacles a hero will face during their journey. Many do not require Attunement to use as they are either technological in nature or their magic is so simple and inherent it needs no additional power.
There are several things one should keep in mind when considering Trinkets:
  • All Wondrous Items are Persistent, meaning that (unlike Consumable items) they endure after being used, and can be used again and again until they break or are destroyed.
  • Multiple instances of the same effect from the same source don't stack. For example, if a character is rapidly healing under the effects of a regenerative potion, he could not increase that effect by using the same potion again. Using the same item again while its effect is still active will only overwrite the previous instance of the effect.

Upgrading Trinkets

Trinkets can be improved by any character with Proficiency in Alchemy, Runeweaving, or Smithy. Upgrading a Trinket takes several days of work and can only be done in the downtime between adventures, assuming the character has access to adequate tools or a workshop of some sort during this time.

Every Trinket offers a number of Upgrades, some of which can be taken multiple times for a cumulative effect. Each Upgrade has a monetary and material cost in terms of Crowns for assorted materials, both magical and mundane, and Augem (an enchanted dust used by Runeweavers)

Be advised that Upgrades can increase the total Attunement of an item. Players should be careful not to upgrade a Trinket beyond what they can accommodate in terms of Attunement.
