The home of humankind, Thera is a world of high adventure, abundant danger, and subtle magic. It is inhabited by a diverse population drawn from all corners of the Sphere; Elves, Kindre, and Orcs have all made lives for themselves on the Human homeworld. During the Second Age, Thera was something of a cultural hub with many of the most powerful nations and inter-world economies calling the world home. Through the darkness of the Third Age, Thera suffered greatly and is now only beginning to reclaim the history lost to it. On Thera, the opportunity for adventure is everywhere. Armed with wits, courage, and a trusty sword, an adventurer can go far in this half-tamed land of gold and glory…and he doesn’t have to go far to get there.
Thera is the goddess of justice and heroism. From the highest peak to the deepest sea, she inspires adventure, courage, and passion within those who dwell upon her surface. A land of brave deeds and great aspirations, Thera is home to humanity and a cultural hub at the forefront of innovation and ambition.
Thera was an important world during the Golden Age. Some of the most powerful societies and movements in both past and current ages originated on Thera. And now, in the age of renaissance, Thera is once again proving itself an important hub of culture and influence.
Thera is comprised of four continents. At the center of human culture is Europa, a land occupying the north central region of the planet. Connected to Europa yet separated by culture and desert sands are the lands of Ishtar to the southwest. Midgard lies across the icy sea in the northeastern part of the world. Finally, the isolated lands of Sekai occupy the southeast.

Europa is divided into three geographical regions. First of these is The Proudlands, an expanse of grassy hills, moors, and forests where three great nations, all once part of the Alvian Empire, vie for dominance. The isles of Aldegan were the center of European power long ago. Though their might has waned considerably of late, Aldegan remains an important player in world events. Across the Strait of Gnios lies the southern fraction of the Alvian Empire, the nation of Cardinia, a military state with aims to conquer all of Europa. West of Cardinia lies Espina, third fraction of the former empire. Since the end of the rebellion that ended the old Empire, these three nations have been at odds, either in subtle contention or outright war. East of the Proudlands lie rocky, wild mountains inhabited by the barbaric Noth who were driven out of Europa at the end of the Dark Age. Known as The Eastmarch, this wilderness stretches from the borders of Cardinia all the way to the eastern coast. The destitute nation of Ofelia controls much of the Eastmarch, though their influence wanes the further one travels east. Finally, The Golden Coast occupies Europa’s southern isles, with the nation of Corsica controlling the coastal cities.
Ishtar is a vast desert continent of powerful city-states shining like pearls amongst the sands. Though linked geographically to Europa, the two regions are separated by vast distances in philosophy, culture, and ethnicity. The green of Europa slowly turns to scrubland and sand as one passes through the ruthless oligarchy of Odain and into the great desert of Ishtar, a region known as Simbala. Controlled by nine great city-states, Simbala is a dangerous land where raiders, sudden sandstorms, and desert predators can make short work of unwary travelers. Eventually, the desert begins to recede into the savannahs of Arhona. Continuing south, the climate becomes hot, wet, and tropical as the savannas give way to palms and lush vegetation. The region of Khandir is a rich, tropical jungle full of life and the ruins of what could be the oldest standing remains of human civilization.
Midgard lies beyond the last rocky shores of the Eastmarch, across a sea of glaciers and ice flows known as the White Sea. Midgard is a land of stone and snow divided into three portions by The Spine, the greatest mountain range on Thera. Helvania consists of the central and western regions of Midgard, those closest to Europa. Its cities are among the most progressive in Midgard, but would be considered backwater and primitive to cosmopolitan Europeans. Volsteim comprises the south and east of Midgard and has recently become something of a melting pot between native Argyan culture and that of the many refugees from Mekai, fleeing the political turmoil of their homeland. Finally, Frostalfe is the northern regions, a cold and bitter land ruled by the old ways and powerful medicon.
Sekai is a land long isolated from the rest of Thera by the vast sea and mystical wards of its last Emperor, the god-king Yushio. However, with the passing of Yushio and the ensuing political tumult, the wards have failed and foreigners are at last coming to Sekai’s shores. The continent, once unified under a grand Golden Empire, is divided into five lands. From the northeastern island chains to the interior shores, Shima, the Land of Water, can be found. Further inland lies Onegai, a region of high mountains known as the Land of Air. The peaks eventually recede into the flat, dry plains that define Ho-Shen, the Land of Fire, a region ruled by nomadic horse-lords. From middle of the continent all the way to the western shore lies Entei, the vast Land of Earth, a gentle region of hills, forests, farmlands, and independent city-states. Nakaga, the Land of Metal occupies the north where the leaders of the Golden Empire desperately try to maintain order in light of the god-king’s absence.
