Forging Weapons and Armor

The act of making one's own weapons and armor may be time-consuming, but it is far cheaper than buying goods at full price from vendors. Crafting also allows one to custom-make their equipment, adding all the personalized details and features that best suit their particular adventuring style. Those with the Smithy Proficiency and a suitable worship can do this themselves. Others will have to find a skillful blacksmith and pay their fee.

In order to create a weapon or suit of armor, you first choose the base item you wish to create. You then may customize its properties using Build Points (abbreviated BP). Weapons and armor are made from metal Ingots and each type of Ingot offers a different amount of Build Points for you to spend creating your equipment. If you wish to forge something complicated and powerful, you'll need a lot of high quality Ingots to do so.

The process of forging an item takes 12 hours for each Ingot you use.

Consult the charts below for the Build Point cost of various attributes and Features you can add to your weapons and armor.

Ingots

The rarer and more fantastic the metal, the more extraordinary the resulting equipment. There are 14 types of Ingots to be found in the world. They are listed below from most to least common.

Steel

Valued at XX Crowns
Steel is iron that has undergone a process of refinement, removing impurities and making it much more durable.

Electrum

Valued at XX Crowns
Electrum is a greyish-green metal that is incredibly hard yet surprisingly light. It is often found in volcanic regions.

Obsidian

Valued at XX Crowns
Obsidian is a jet black metal naturally cold to the touch. Weapons and armor made from it seem to absorb light.

Adamant

Valued at XX Crowns
One of the hardest metals in existence, Adamant is a blue-tinged metal ideal for making weapons and armor.

Jade

Valued at XX Crowns
Jade is a green glass-like metal that constantly gives off a deep green glow, an appealing quirk for practitioners of magic.

Aurum

Valued at XX Crowns
Also known as True Gold, Aurum is a gleaming golden metal that is said to bring good luck to whoever holds it.

Orichalcum

Valued at XX Crowns
Also called White Gold, Orichalcum is a legendary metal which symbolizes heroism and martial strength in folklore.

Mithril

Valued at XX Crowns
The rarest and most valuable metal on The Sphere, Mithril is prized for its lightness, hardness, and beauty.

THe Six Silvers

A blacksmith (or character with the Smithing Proficiency) can "silver" a weapon or suit of armor, inlaying special types of silver into it that make it more effective against specific types of enemies.
  • Silvered weapons give Advantage for the first 3 attacks made during a Scene against the kind of creature they oppose.
  • Silvered armor imposes Disadvantage on the first 3 attacks made during a Scene by a creature the silver opposes (for example, the first three attacks a zombie makes against the wearer of Truesilver armor would have Disadvantage).

The silvering process typically costs 1,000 Crowns, takes 12 hours of work, and requires one Ingot of the following types of Silver (a weapon can only be inlaid with one type of Silver):

Alchemical Silver

Effective against Dragons and Lusus Naturae

Blood Silver

Effective against Mortals

Cold silver

Effective against Godlings and Infernals

Darksilver

Effective against Giants and Hominids

Meteoric SIlver

Effective against Aberrants and Constructs

Truesilver

Effective against Accursed and Undead
