Background
Upon their 18th birthday, every individual is required to submit themselves to an exam to see if they are eligible to participate in the Pathfinder program. The honor and opportunities for fame and fortune that come with admission are only available to those who display truly exceptional strength, intelligence, and skill.
Every Pathfinder had a life before their admission into the program, and every Pathfinder who completes the training finds new social, business, and political opportunities that would have never been available otherwise. Background represents the lifestyle choices a character made (or had thrust upon them) on either side of their Pathfinder training. These choices influence the social ties, potential plot hooks, and starting resources available to a character (any Materia gained from Backgrounds that isn't spent by the end of character creation is lost). Note: You may choose more than one Background, but only receive the benefits of one. |
